Summer Zoom Sessions 2020

All courses in Summer 2020 are online classes that will be taught via Zoom.  You will get a Zoom invitation once we have your payment and have enough enrollment to run the class.

This is for students who have had minimal German, or were in the absolute beginners class. A1.1 level.

Have you always wanted to take a German class but couldn’t find the time or the location was too far away?! This class is a great way to start you on your road to learning German this summer. This 4 week class will introduce you to the basics.

Time: Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 pm

Dates: June 3-24

Come travel with us virtually from the Bodensee in the south up to the Ostsee in the north. These short travel classes are a great way to learn a little about the different regions in Germany. Classes will be in German and are focused primarily on culture and vocabulary.

Level: A2+

Time: Monday 6:30-8:30 pm

Dates: Each region will be covered on a specific dates (priced per region).

Die Alpen - June 22, 29. Come with us and discover the beauty of the Alps. We will learn about the landscape and culture of the Alps.

Die Ostsee - July 13, 20. Come with us and discover the Baltic and some of its lovely towns. We will learn about the landscape and culture of the Baltic, including Casper David Friedrich.

Der Bodensee - 27 July, 03 Aug. Did you know that Lake Constance borders 3 countries? Find out more about this lovely region in this class.

Kunst?! Kultur!

Fritz Ascher- Aug 10, 17. Expressionist and banned art. In this class we will explore the works of this artist and how he was influenced by the time period in which he lived.

Regions

In this course we will pay special attention to the Grimm's tales. We will read and interpret several well-known tales from the collection of the Brothers Grimm. We will ask - what do they seek to tell us or what ideas and values to they represent and convey. We will also discuss how they are told today for example through Disney movies. Level: A1.2 and above

Time: Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 pm

Dates: Starting June 2nd, runs for 4 weeks.

This class is an introduction to business basics. We will be learning about important telephone and email skills in this 2 week session, as well as improving your intercultural communication skills. This class is best suited for those that have had some previous German. A1.2+ level is fine.

Time: Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 pm

Dates: July 14th and July 21st.

All classes must meet the minimum enrollment to run. If we do not meet sufficient enrollment, we may decide to shorten the duration/hours of the class or to cancel the class. It is imperative that you register before class begins in order for us to determine whether we have sufficient enrollment to hold the class. Please help us by signing up as early as possible. We will not hold a class if it does not meet enrollment numbers prior to start date.

A certificate of attendance and achievement can be issued for all classes. If a student needs a specific letter of attendance/achievement for high school, college, this can be written up as well, upon request.

If class is cancelled due to illness or weather, the class will be made up at the end of the session.  In the event of cancellation, you will be notified by phone and/or email.  Please be sure your instructor has a way to reach you during the day.  If you have questions, please call or email your instructor.
